Taiwan-Japan Collaborate for Supply Chain Digital Trust! Cybertrust Teams up with CHANGING for Cybersecurity Solutions, Aiding Enterprises with EU Cyber Resilience Act Challenges.

2024-05-23

Cybertrust Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Yuji Kitamura, hereinafter referred to as "Cybertrust Co.") and CHANGING Information Technology Inc. , a subsidiary of Wistron Group, announced that they have agreed to cooperate on the establishment of global security standards and ensuring global supply chain security, and have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

This initiative will leverage advanced security technologies in Japan and Taiwan to develop and provide IoT/OT security solutions that comply with European and Japanese security regulations as well as emerging security standards, contributing to the construction of a secure society and business development.

Global Security Situation and Challenges: Background of Signing the Memorandum of Cooperation

Given the recent escalation of global situations and cyber threats, governments in Europe and Japan are strengthening security regulations. The European Union is planning to implement the EU Cyber Resilience Act by 2025, which will require products related to IoT and operational technology to comply with security regulations to be exported to the EU market. Japanese manufacturers aiming to export to the EU face significant challenges in understanding security technologies, resource allocation, and compliance. Japan is also gradually implementing new security regulations for 14 critical infrastructure sectors and tightening automotive OTA security regulations, but faces similar challenges. Additionally, Japan ranks among the top countries in terms of cyberattacks in the IoT/OT field, urgently requiring countermeasures.

The global IoT market continues to innovate technologically, with the smart home market reaching ¥5 trillion. As the market grows, the emerging identity authentication standard MATTER imposes heavy operational cost pressure on manufacturers.

Cybertrust and CHANING are coordinating plans for joint development of security solutions to address the above challenges.
